We have had a busy few months of presentations.
First was the 4S conference, the annual meeting of the Society for Social Studies of Science, which had the theme this year of – TRANSnational STS –
Mapping Edges joined the Composting Feminisms and Environmental Humanties panel with the paper ‘When plants design: multispecies entanglements in a transcultural Sydney neighbourhood’.
In September we presented to 30 teachers plus principals and regional directors from NSW Department of Education public schools at the Aerial Function Centre. Each school represented in the audience is working to integrate the STEM disciplines from Kindergarten to Year 6. We spoke about social media as a visual notebook in order to inspire ideas for the High Possibility Classrooms framework which includes a conception of creativity in the framing of real world problems. Thank you to Jane Hunter for bringing us into these great discussions about education.
And later in September, as part of Social Science Week, we presented at the symposium ‘Migration, Social Inclusion and the Multicultural City’ at Western Sydney University Parramatta CBD campus, organized by Dr Jennifer Cheng and Dr Kristine Aquino. Our paper focused on research done on Home Gardens in Haberfield.
